Update update update

If you are lucky, you can still catch the exhibition of Shropshire illustrators and children's authors at the Qube, Oswestry.

There's workshops too...... visit www.qube-oca.org.uk

Twentytwenty gallery are just about to launch my map of Much Wenlock - see the gallery at www.twenty-twenty.co.uk

Earlier in the year I did some work for Mrs Hesketh. In fact, last year as well! Ludlow sauce was launched

made by Mrs Hesketh (www.mrsheskeths.co.uk) I did some illustration work for it, and some more this

year for the Winter/Christmas version which is now available from The Food centre, Bromfield, Ludlow.

Hobson's beer went down well at the Ludlow Food festival ; I'm hoping customers managed to find their

way around the locality with my map....

I'm working on a map of Church Stretton - more to follow. Its fascinating reading up on all the local

history and I can now tell you oodles of useless info about the buildings, but I won't!

How many holidays?

Too many!

Yes, it seems churlish to complain but I'm dying to get some work done and every time I turn around

there's another holiday!

Also, when I started to blog a bit, it was really to account for the fact that new work would be put here

instead of on the website as it is easier for me to access. But then I got a bit carried away......

So now due to other commitments I have resolved to become only a reader of blogs and not a writer!

I will post when a project is ready to be revealed to the world and only then........Au revoir!

The d(el)ays are getting longer!

Yes, there was a bit of a delay in getting the last blog to you - wrote it and meant to post it the next day......

Its a very busy life trying to function as lots of different people - I've been out and about seeing galleries,

buying materials, gathering information for a forthcoming project, and trying to do too much at the same

time.

The camera charger is hiding and so I'm going to show a piece of work from last year that I showed for the

first time on Sunday.

Its in pen and watercolour  and is based on the town , Caerleon , (then v. small town aka village) where I

 grew up.

I've been making a piece for the Westhope College competition - had a bit of a hiccup with it then

radically changed it and I'm pleased with it now. It will appear here in the future but first its got to wing

its way to Westhope. Go and visit at www.westhope.org.uk.

Chin colle!

Half-term holiday over and I'm still alive !

The Hula hamster was a requested knitting project that's been quite a while in the getting around to it line

but I was glad that I did it in the end and we're all quite fond of her now! ( have asked permission of her

new owner to publish pics)

Watch that hamster hula!
"Chin colle" is the other pastime that I've been madly pursuing - the process involves applying colour in

the form of acid-free tissue paper and acid-free glue before printing on top.

Simples!

Well - not really. Because if you don't want to mark the paper (and you don't), and you want to get the

colour where you want it , whilst remembering the image will be reversed when you print it....well, you

get the idea but it keeps you off the streets.

Same print - different colour application!

As yet un-named but I'm sure something will come to me soon...

Its an amazingly creative process that I'm now totally hooked on - watch this space for more.........

Remember this blog is linked to the website - katy-alston.co.uk and is really useful to update you

from but the rest of the work is there.....
Still hula-ing! Bye bye!

Here's the printmaking bit!

I don't know! You solve one blasted techy problem only to be confronted by another!

But here goes - the printmaking has been coming along a pace.....

Here it is again in blue ( linocut)

And I've just discovered a marvellous illustrator whom I have admired for years

John Lawrence! He did illustrations in the Dark Materials books which are some of my favourites -

I just didn't know who he was!
